Retirement Income Through Affiliate Marketing

With the uncertain economy and the stock market continuing to drop many people are finding it harder to plan for their retirement. To make matters worse most 401K and IRA accounts have lost money so what money people manage to save has been wiped away.

Many people are looking for extra income to either help pay the bills or to start trying to put a little extra away for retirement. Traditionally whenever someone needed extra money they could always get a second job. Unfortunately with the economy appearing to be heading for a recession many employers are not doing any hiring. Add in the high price of gas and the part time job making minimum wage is not worth the trouble for most people.

Starting an internet home business is becoming the choice for more and more people as they weigh the benefits of working from home. Unlike a traditional business there is no large out of pocket start up expenses and you can continue to work at you job while earning money from home on the computer.

Affiliate marketing is becoming more popular for people starting an internet home business because of the low cost and the chance to earn residual income. Residual income offers the home business the chance to continue to earn income long after the sale. Programs differ but basically as you sign up a prospect you get a commission. As that person signs up people under them you get a portion of the commission and so on. Depending on the affiliate program it can eventually become very lucrative.

With so many affiliate programs to choose from it is hard to decide witch one to join. The best thing to do is research a few programs first. Join the ones that interest you and begin to market them. The easiest and most profitable way to market the programs you join is with a web site. The web hosting fee is usually the only monthly cost of starting a internet business and the fees are very reasonable.

Usually after a few months the internet home business will be making a small profit. As your business continues to grow and make more money it allows you to increase your contributions to your retirement account. If you are lucky enough to have an employer matched 401k than with the extra money you are making you can eventually contribute the maximum amount allowed by the IRS.

The best part about affiliate marketing is that when you finally do decide to unplug your computer and retire for good not only has the extra income from your internet home business helped towards your retirement, now you have residual income and the money continues to come in

Nice reading. I started educating myself on online marketing a couple of months ago, and something that I have learned since then is how easily one can burn out due to information overload, stress and losing the ability to look ahead and plan for the future rather than obsessing with making enough money to re-invest and branch out as soon as possible. It’s a game of patience and being persistent. I also was way too careless about creating a proper plan of action and sticking with it. Better late than never, though.

As for affiliates finding the right program to join: Do research first, look around in forums and find people promoting it. That’s how I found someone I wanted to join under with an affiliate program. I decided on that person after seing her efforts promoting it and answering all questions about it from other forum users. She’s been very helpful since the beginning and even though the rest of my down and upline doesn’t bother to answer my messages, she is always within reach and I have never had any regrets for signing up under her. So don’t rush it, but take your time and talk to the person you might end up joining under. If they are unresponsive, pick someone else. If they show you a great attitude and are supportive (check their post history), it could be a smart choice to join under that person.

Even though very few people actually get rich being affiliates (I guess most develop past that stage and start creating their own products and services when their income supports it), it is very much possible to make a solid income with affiate commissions alone.

Thanks for the article, I enjoyed reading it.

    Here’s to your success.

Affiliate marketing is a great way to make money but I sure wouldnt want to rely on it for retirement. Theres so much volatility in the industry with changes in affiliates and changes in search engines that you really have to be careful what you rely on.

Good point. I would not recommend using affiliate marketing as your only source of retirement income either. The point is to be comfortable in retirement multiple streams of income is necessary. Affiliate marketing, in done properly, can be one of those streams.

Affiliate marketing is the easiest and the most lucrative way to start your internet marketing career. Once you get the feel of the business you can then venture on to others. And remember, success is not by chance, it’s by choice!.

That is a really nice down to earth approach. Thanks for sharing.

It’s always a refreshing read when someone tells it like it is and not telling you how you will be making millions in 5 mins.

One thing to remember is to insure your investments. Insuring your investments is so important but most people don’t think they need it until something bad actually happens.
