Have A Forum Posting And Article Marketing Strategy For Your Internet Home Business Part 2
In my last post I explained how it is much more effective for an Internet home business owner to think of forum posting, web content, and syndicating out articles as part of a seamless, interconnected three step process:
1. Forum posting
2. Web content
3. Article syndication
Let’s have a look at the first part of this three step process in more detail.
Step 1. Forum Posting Strategy.
Don’t go blindly onto a forum and get distracted by some of the chatter that you encounter there. Your aim on the forum should be to contribute useful information relating to your niche market in order to build your reputation and increase the number of back links pointing to your website.
In short, you need to develop and work with a clear at forum posting strategy.
It is a good idea to set yourself a target number of forum posts, and select a handful of forums rather than just one to post on. We are talking about just five or six posts per day on three or four forums. In other words, one or two posts per forum per day. Allow yourself 30 to 90 minutes to do this. This is quite flexible window of time and the reason for this will become clear in a minute.
Now, when you go onto a forum, look out for topic threads and questions concerned with your marketing niche and contribute to those threads. Don’t just leave useless one-liners, but add something useful to the conversation as the thoughts occur to you. If you find that you have quite a lot to say, say it, even if it takes up to 20 minutes of your time. If there are several posts you can respond to in detail you may want to make full use of the 90 minutes MAXIMUM time limit you allocated yourself for forum posting. Remember, forum posting is not just about Backlinks but also about your reputation, and the best way to build up your reputation is to take time to contribute viable information to conversation, so don’t be afraid to devote twenty minutes to a post provided it is relevant to your market. On the other hand, don’t go over your upper time limit for forum posting – you can always return to the forum another day to respond to a thread.
However, there is another purpose behind this practice of responding in detail to questions on relevant threads. The purpose is to help you generate ideas to use on other forums and in your article writing.
So, once you have written a detailed reply to one or two threads, move on to your next forum and use the information you have generated to either respond to a similar question or to start a new thread of your own. Do not simply copy and paste your comments from one forum to another because someone will notice and flag you for it. Instead simply say it all again but in a different way, adding some extra information as it occurs to you. This is a great way to move quickly from forum to forum and add valuable content to each one without taking too much of your own time.
It will also help you in the next stage of our three-part strategy, namely, writing unique content of your website.

Setting a time limit is certainly a good idea, as you mention. Or else you might find yourself using several hours on this effort, which – even though it is important – steals time from your core business
Finding forums related closely to your area of business might be a good idea, as commenting on topics you know a lot about usually requires less effort.
