My First 30 Days as a Work From Home Newbie
It’s now been 30 days since I started Your Work From Home Help Center and it has been a huge learning experience.
I do have experience running my own business but running a business entirely from the internet was and still is foreign to me. I realized that it wasn’t going to be as easy as setting up a web site and start counting the money but I figured it had to be easier than running a traditional business. In my other business I would go to business owners and sell my product to them and then they would refer other business owners to me. On the internet I can’t go and knock on peoples doors and show them my product and not leave until they buy something they have to come to me. That’s the part I’m still trying to master.
 Â
I started out like most people, looking for ways to make extra income working from home. I new I wanted my own home based business but I needed ideas. After weeks of looking and getting to the sign up page of countless affiliate programs and then backing out at the last minute I finally went through with it signed up with the Plug In Profit program. The Plug In Profit Site gave me six affiliate programs to work with plus a web site within 24 hours.
The first thing I new I had to do was stay on budget. Two of the programs recommended by Plug in Profit require a monthly membership fee, however, you can choose to participate in all of the programs or only the free ones and you can add any additional programs to your site you want. I chose only the free programs to start with, SFI, Leisure Audio Books, Host4Profit, and the Reverse Funnel System (this one offers a fee based upgrade that doubles your commission ) Â to keep my spending down. Once I begin to turn some kind of profit I will sign up for at least one if not both of the membership fee based programs because they are both very profitable.
The second thing I new I had to do was change my web site. It had to be different. After spending days looking at other sites, I went with WordPress, because of the ease of changing my site in the future and because most of my competition is using the traditional web site format. Â Â
I’ve now spent the past month changing the site, adding additional affiliate programs and doing research on how to increase traffic to my site. Unfortunately I’ve spent so much time doing the research on running a home based business I haven’t actually implemented any of it yet. But that was my plan from the beginning.
I guess I have a subject to write about for my next post.
